Process
In the process of creating a relaxing, tactile, containing form I explored different materials. Starting from a wooden shape bottle I carved in order to make a silicone mold which later contained the actual silicone bottle, eventually I returned to wood and carved a new bottle consisting of two different kinds of wood,eucalyptus and maple. All that experimentation was necessary in order to reach the accuracy I needed to get the protecting hugging feeling I aspired for. The name comes from merging the words "womb" and "bottle".
Inspiration & Concept
Water has always been known as a natural relaxant. It has therapeutic qualities and is used in many different ways from hydrotherapy to holistic treatments. In the physical aspect, buoyancy power and hydrostatic pressure around the body provide support and a sense of security, which contributes to the relaxation effect. In the emotional aspect, water is a transitional object which reminds us of the warm, safe, containing and protecting womb.
